Two-year-old Lily had a handful of building blocks scattered across the living room when her mom, Rachel, heard a strange silence from the play area. Lily was blue around the lips and couldn't make a sound.
A small plastic block — about the size of a coin — had broken off from a larger set and was wedged in her airway. Rachel performed back blows with no effect, then grabbed the Mumany from the shelf where she kept the family emergency supplies.
One clean suction, and the block was out. Lily cried, caught her breath, and wanted to go right back to playing.
Rachel has since bought a second unit for the playroom. "The living room one saved her that day," she said. "Now the playroom has its own. Choking doesn't care which room you're in."
