It was a bounce-house birthday party, and 4-year-old Maya was having the time of her life — until she grabbed a handful of popcorn from the snack table and started choking on an unpopped kernel.
She was still coughing, but her breathing was noisy and labored, and she couldn't get a full breath. The hostess, Jenna, kept a Mumany in her party supply bin — she'd bought it after running a childcare business for years.
One pull, and the kernel was out. Maya recovered within minutes and went right back to jumping.
"The other parents were shaken up," Jenna said. "Three of them ordered Mumany before the party was over. That's the thing — you don't think about choking until it happens at your kid's party."
